Home Yadkin Eagles 2007

June 17th
No sign of the eaglets or the adults. The nest is completely collapsed now. They could have flewn off safely, the timing was about right. Last year they stuck around for a few weeks, so we'll look along the river for them.

June 9th
There are three large eaglets crammed on the nest remains, and a branch. The nest has mostly collapsed and looks pretty sad. Most of the time we watched there was one on the nest and two on a branch.
No sign of the adults. These three won't be around much longer anyway, but we'll have to wait until next winter to see if they rebuild.

May 20th
A banner eagle watching day. One adult was on the nest feeding, but also blocking our view. The 2nd adult landed with a fish and we got a lucky shot. Another lucky shot was of the first adult taking off after the 2nd landed. Then a nice shot of the 3 eaglets and the adult apparently looking straight at us.
The river is low and clear which makes for easy fishing (if you're an eagle). The babies are growing fast.

April 29th
There are three eaglets for the 2nd year in a row. This pair is trying to re-populate the whole state themselves.
Like last year, there are visible differences in their growth rate. The oldest has lost all its baby fuzz and is a all black. One is about half baby fuzz below and darker above. There is a picture below, but the light's not great.

March 4th
There is an eagle on the nest. It is hunkered down and hard to see, but it is there.

February 19th
It looks like the nest has more material, but hard to tell for sure. Still no sign of birds actually on (or near) the nest.

January 31st 2007
The eagles are around, but we've seen no nest activity yet. The tree is dying: whether the eagles will still use it is unknown. We've seen no sign of a new nest, but it's a big river. This nest isn't too far from their first (collapsed) nest. So if they do move, it may not be far.
