We have lots of wildflowers through out much of the year.  We've seen a round-lobed hepatica blooming at Christmas time. 2006 was a banner year for wildflowers. Mainly because we've spent so much time walking to see the eagle nest, we've caught lots of these we've missed in the past. Like the Showy Orchis that we saw in full bloom during one week, then it's gone.
Lots of hepatica along the sunny-side of the stream-bed in January! From the number of crane-fly orchis leaves, the woods will be full of them this summer. We've seen more Putty Root leaves also. For many of these things, there may not actually be more, we may just be better at spotting them.
